Grants and scholarships

The City of Loimaa grants annual subsidies to organisations and associations involved in sports, culture, youth, well-being and health promotion. A sports grant is awarded to a successful athlete who has brought positive publicity to his or her home town.

Grants for education services

The grants awarded by the Education and Culture Committee are divided into grants for cultural, sports and youth services and for activities promoting well-being and health, which are general grants and specific grants. The Education and Culture Committee decides on its own criteria for grants and on the award of grants each year, within the limits of the budget approved in the spending plan. Grants are awarded during the calendar year in which the activity takes place.

General and specific grants for all leisure services (sport, culture, youth, health and well-being) are applied for online on the Grants Network website. The website also provides login instructions and further information on how to use the service.

Promoting well-being and health

The Education and Culture Committee has the discretion to award an annual grant for health and well-being activities. The grants are primarily used to support the reduction of well-being disparities in Loimaa.

The activities supported must target vulnerable groups, such as children and young people, the elderly, people with long-term illnesses and disabilities, people in need of substance abuse, mental health or crisis intervention services, the homeless, people with income difficulties, people with an immigrant background or various minority groups.

The activities must take place in Loimaa. If the applicant has activities in several municipalities, the grant will only be awarded for activities taking place in Loimaa, for which a separate budget and action plan must be submitted.

General grants are intended to cover the costs of setting up an association for the promotion of health and well-being. The expenditure supported by the grant is the cost of the activities for which the grant is awarded.

Targeted grants are awarded primarily for events, projects, projects, camps and excursions. Grants will only be awarded for costs related to the event or project to be supported.

The total grant amount for the general and specific grants related to well-being and health promotion in 2024 is €26 500.
