City management and sectors

The city’s body of elected representatives is made up of the City Council, the Committee of Inspectors, the City Council and the Committees. The City Council is represented by the Municipal Manager.

In the main areas of responsibility, the following committees operate: the Environment Committee, the Welfare Committee and the Committee of Education and Culture.

The administration, financial management and other activities of the municipality are managed by the municipal manager under the authority of the City Council. The service areas are responsible for organizing and delivering services within their areas of responsibility. The heads of the service areas are directly accountable to the municipality manager.

The central administration is responsible for the preparation and implementation of matters falling within the remit of the City Council and the City Executive Board, as well as certain other institutions. The central administration is also responsible for the general information of the city and the organization of general elections. The central administration is responsible for the management of the municipality’s documents, from the opening of cases to their filing.
