The strategy is the municipality’s roadmap for the future. It tells us what kind of city we want for the future. The strategy is based on the long-term goals for the city’s operations and finances decided by the council. It guides other operational and service strategies, planning and decision-making.

Strategy 2022-2025

With a new City Council and a changing operating environment, the City of Loimaa started the process of renewing its strategy at the beginning of 2022, and the completed strategy “Loimaa of Success Stories” was approved by the City Council on 29 August 2022.

At the core of the City Strategy 2022-2025 are nine strategic objectives relating to vitality and housing, well-being and participation, and governance and economy. Through the values defined in the strategy, the city commits itself to being resident-centred, collaborative, regenerative and accountable.

Together with residents and partners, the city is developed in a reliable, transparent, consistent and economically, socially and ecologically sustainable way.

Vision – Loimaa of success stories

The vision for the strategy 2022-2025 was adopted as “Loimaa of success stories”. The vision sees Loimaa as a regional city of success stories that attracts residents, experts and companies, where vitality and well-being are created together.

Key initiatives – from ambition to implementation

The objectives and vision set out in the strategy will be implemented in particular through three key projects during the current Council term:

• attractive living environments
• skilled workforce Loimaa
• children and youth Loimaa

From preparation to implementation through cooperation

Tarja Mäki-Punto-Ristanen, Chair of the City Council and Strategy Steering Group, commented on the strategy process:

“The work on the city strategy is based on extensive consultation and dialogue with Loimaa residents, businesses, the third sector, employees and decision-makers. There has been a positive contribution from various stakeholders, who have raised opportunities, ideas and even areas for improvement. The dialogue that has taken place in the context of the strategy process has been valuable in itself. Ideas and feedback have been heard and taken into account!”

Regional strategy and transport strategy for Southwest Finland

The strategies and similar ones for the whole region affect the activities of the City of Loimaa. The most important of these are the Regional Strategy for Southwest Finland and the Regional Transport System Strategy.

A vitality Pledge

A joint Vitality Pledge was signed on 13 March 2024 by the City of Loimaa, Loimaa Entrepreneurs, Alastaro Entrepreneurs, Loimaa Region Women Entrepreneurs and Loimaa Trade and Services Association. The priorities of the Vitality Pledge are:

• Effective dialogue
• Smooth planning and permitting processes
• Entrepreneur-friendly procurement
• Business impact assessment
• Making use of the municipal barometer and launching work on the vitality programme.
