Curatorial work and nepsy guidance

Curatorial work in early childhood education

All families with children have periods in their lives when everyday life is more difficult and sometimes situations where outside support may be needed. The curator’s work in early childhood education aims to strengthen parenting and increase the family’s own resources.

The service is available to all families of pre-school children in need of early childhood education.

Curatorial work can include:

  • discussions, e.g. “Talking to children” discussions
  • working together
  • open activities for families with children
  • peer groups, e.g. the Good Mind Parenting group

Preventive work is guided by openness and confidentiality and does not create a client relationship. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns about your family career.

Talking to children® to support their growth and development

The Child Talk method is used to support the child’s positive development and prevent problems. It supports families in coping with everyday changes and challenges. The “Talking to Children” session consists of 1-2 meetings or more, as needed.

Nepsy guidance in early childhood education and care

Nepsy guidance in early childhood education brings new perspectives and insights to everyday challenges.

Nephsy counselling is aimed at children with neuropsychiatric features.
The idea is that the child can be helped as soon as the need for support arises.
The child’s strengths and interests are the basis for the work.
It includes individual and small group work, observation, consultation and modelling.

Nepsy guidance can include.

  • taking into account and reducing stress factors in everyday life
  • support and understanding of the challenges of sensory regulation
  • strengthening strengths and positive encounters
  • support for emotional and social skills
  • supporting play skills
  • peer groups
  • bringing nepsy accessories into everyday life

Nepsy counselling supports early childhood education staff and families by providing additional information, understanding and guidance for the everyday life of a child with nepsy.

Nepsy counsellor working in children’s groups

The Nepsy counsellor rotates through all early childhood education units in the city of Loimaa and works together with other early childhood education staff. The whole group of children benefits from the Nepsy work and the guidance takes place during the early childhood education day. The groups in which the nepsy supervisor works are selected at the discretion of the special teachers in early childhood education.

Nephsy counselling provides individual and targeted support for children with neuropsychiatric features. Nephsy counselling is a preventive service, which does not require a referral or a diagnosis.

But what is nepsy?

Nepsy, i.e. a person with neuropsychiatric features, e.g. ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, developmental language disorder, tourette’s.
