What is the early childhood education and care customer fee?
Early childhood education and care fees are determined on a percentage basis according to the family’s gross income, family size and early childhood education and care needs.
A decision on the early childhood education and care fee is always made at the start of the child’s care. The early childhood education fees for all children are always revised at the beginning of the school year, starting on 1 August, according to the new income data. There may be a delay in the payment of day care fees for August.
The payment decision is reviewed if there is a substantial change in the number of hours of early childhood education and care to be provided, the size of the family or the ability of the beneficiary to pay. The fee is also revised if it proves to be incorrect or if the regulations and decisions in force change. The fee is not revised in the middle of the calendar month.

Fees for full-time and part-time early childhood education and care
When calculating the average weekly time spent in early childhood education and care, the time spent in childcare during the calendar month is taken into account.
Fee for full-time early childhood education and care
If the care is at least 35 hours per week, the fee is the monthly fee for full-time care.

Fee for pre-school education
Pre-school education for children aged 6 years is provided free of charge for around 20 hours per week on pre-school days approved by the Education Board. Pre-school education is taken into account as a factor in reducing the fee for early childhood education during the pre-school education period. If a pre-school pupil needs early childhood education during the school year (1 August to 31 July) on days other than pre-school days, a fee is charged for the period in question, pro rata to the duration of the childcare period.
There are two guardians and two children in the family (family size 4).
Both children use municipal early childhood education full-time.
The family’s gross income in total is 7200 € /month.
The customer fee for early childhood education consists of the following:
7200 € (family income) – 5956 € (income limit) = 1244 €
10.7% of the part that exceeds the income limit is calculated as the customer fee for early childhood education:
1244 € x 0.107 = 133 €
The customer fees for family early childhood education are:
The youngest child’s payment is 133€ /month and the second child’s payment is 40% of this, i.e. 133 x 0.4= 53 €/month.
Total family payments 133 + 53 = 186 €/month.
If the older child in the family were to use 60% of the care time, the fee would be calculated as follows:
The payment for the youngest child remains the same at 133 €/month.
The older child’s payment is 60% of the full-time payment, i.e. 53 x 0.6 = 32 €/month.
Total family payments 133 + 32 = 165 €/month.
