The Strength for Ageing programme

In January 2022, Loimaa was selected to participate in the Healthy Ageing programme coordinated by the Age Institute, which will run for three years from 2022 to 2024, and 13 new municipalities were selected. Loimaa will continue to participate in the project in the future, together with 26 other municipalities in Southwest Finland.

Strength for Ageing is a programme that aims to increase and develop group strength and balance activities, physical activity advice, outdoor opportunities and peer-led activities for older people. The target group is in particular older people (75+) living independently at home and with reduced functional capacity.

In addition to municipal development work, the aim is to increase cooperation between the municipalities participating in the programme in Southwest Finland in the field of older people’s physical activity and to build a smooth path between the services of the Southwest Finland Wellbeing Region, municipalities and organisations. The Age Institute is responsible for the development work.

Over three years, Loimaa will develop a programme for older people.
