This page presents the official bathing sites in Loimaa, which are maintained by the city and from which water purity samples are taken in accordance with the regulations. In addition to these, there are other bathing sites in the region.

Lake Melliläjärvi

Melliläjärvi is a clean, clear-water artificial lake that is a popular swimming spot for the whole family in summer. The beach has a diving platform, a separate shallow children’s beach, toilets, changing rooms and an outdoor shower. Around the lake there is a one-kilometre-long fitness track and a full 18-hole frisbee golf course. There are also three beach volleyball courts near the beach.

During the summer, there is a beach café on Lake Melliläjärvi, where you can get ice cream and sweet and savoury snacks. You can also hire games and water sports equipment such as beach volleyballs, Mölkky, sup-boats and frisbee golf balls from the café. The beach is an EU beach and smoking on the beach is prohibited from 1 May to 30 September.

Melliläjärvi is also home to the city-owned Melliläjärvi lakeside sauna and fireplace room, which are rented out to organisations and individuals. See more information about the sauna and the fireplace.

Lake Pappistenjärvi

Lake Pappistenjärvi is a small lake surrounded by forest. Next to an idyllic dance floor, the swimming area has a child-friendly sandy beach and changing rooms. Up on the wooded slope is a sauna cottage rented by the village association. In winter, the lake is open for open water swimming.

Loimikoti’s swimming spot

Loimikoti’s swimming area is on the banks of the Loimijoki River, near the centre of Alastaro. The cosy beach area has a pier, a changing room and a bathing hut. You can also launch a boat from the river and the pier is accessible without any obstacles. Please note: when swimming, be careful of the river currents.

Camping and recreation area Kalikka

Kalikka, located on the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi in Pöytyä, is a camping and recreation area in the city of Loimaa, where you can swim, sauna and barbecue, and reserve the area and its buildings for meetings, camps or recreational use. Read more about Kalikka.
