Rehabilitation work activities were transferred to the Southwest Finland Welfare Region on 1.1.2023.

What is rehabilitative work?

Rehabilitative work offers people who have been unemployed for a long time the chance to get back into working life. Work activity is working in an assisting role or in a rehabilitation work group, for example. The work is based on an individual plan. The work placements are in municipal and state agencies, organisations, foundations or other public bodies. Rehabilitation work is not available in private companies.

Work activities are organised:

  • in 3-month periods
  • 1-4 days a week on weekdays
  • 4-8 hours per day

The activity is not an employment relationship and there is no overtime, night work or shift work.

During the period of work, you will receive:

  • an operating or maintenance allowance
  • reimbursement of travel expenses according to your individual situation

Rehabilitative work activities comply with the Occupational Safety Act and Varha arranges accident insurance. Health care services are provided through primary health care.

There are places for rehabilitation work in the city’s parks department, office work, kitchen, support services for the elderly and children.
