Many animal species must be registered. Directly to the keeper register.
You are required by law to register as a keeper if you keep any of the following animals:

• bovine animals
• porcine animals including minipiggies
• sheep
• goats
• poultry
• equidae
• bees and bumblebees
• production channels
• reindeer outside the municipalities
• germ cell and embryo storage (including nitrogen tanks for home insemination)
• dogs from 1.1.2023

The latest to be registered are dogs. Dogs can be registered in the dog register by themselves. The register opened on 8.5.2023. The aim of animal identification and registration is to ensure the welfare of animals, to prevent animal diseases and to monitor the passage of food from animals through the production chain.
