Expansion of the senior card encourages physical activity and culture

At its meeting on 12.12.24, the Education and Culture Committee decided to extend the use of the Senior Card from 1.1.2025.

The aim of the renewal is to encourage Loimaa residents over 65 and those on disability pension to obtain a senior card and to participate more actively in sports and cultural activities.

The senior card costs €60 (6 months) and €100 (12 months). It entitles you to one daily admission to the Vesihovi, the Hirvihovi fitness and gymnasium and the museums of the Taidetalo and Alpo Jaakola’s Statue Park during their opening hours. The senior card can be bought at the Vesihovi and can also be borrowed for a week from the main library for a trial period.

With the reform, the senior card will give you free access to the sports services’ guided groups, discounts on sports services’ courses, such as the gym beginners’ course (-50%), and free private access to several sports halls (Alastaro Hall, Hirvihovi, Mellilä sports hall and Kojonkulma Ahjo. The aim is to encourage those who participate in the seasonal fee-paying groups of the sports services to obtain a senior card and thus participate in more groups or to add aquatic and gym activities to their exercise habits.

The card also gives a discount on Tuesday concerts at the Taidetalo (-50%).
