Askelmerkit goes to the emotions
The Askelmerkit exhibition at the Alastaro library is a powerful exhibition of paintings: acrylic works by Anette Pakarinen from Loimaa deal with femininity, a changed self-image and the fear of death.
– Painting was already my favourite subject at school, but the real impetus to paint came in August 2023, when I received a phone call about cancer. Tappajatissi (the Killer Tits) piece is my first acrylic experiment, painted when my breast cancer diagnose was four days old,” Pakarinen says.
The Askelmerkit collection comprises 14 paintings in which Pakarinen has given room for imagination. This is her first exhibition, and it is exciting but rewarding to show her own work.
– The pre-chewed pictures are somewhere else. There will be no landscapes, and not necessarily those cute bamboo paintings. My style is a mix of many genres, probably mostly strong and free.
